Helly Hansen’s BiFrost Boot with Solarcore® Aerogel Insulation Wins reddot Design Award

Solarcore technology helps award-winning workwear boot achieve a temperature rating of -40°C

PORTLAND, Ore. (July 19, 2024)Solarcore, an innovative thermal solutions platform, is proud to announce that its first collaboration with Helly Hansen, has been honored with the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. Launching this Fall/Winter ’24, the Bifrost Winter Tall BOA S7S HT is the pinnacle winter boot. Engineered to provide superior performance, warmth and comfort in even the most extreme conditions, the Bifrost is optimal for any jobsite. Solarcore is paramount in the product’s DNA with the integration of its patented Aerogel insulation technology, which helps the work boot achieve a temperature rating of -40°C.

“Solarcore® is tremendously proud to have been a part of this project,” said Michael Markesbery, co-founder and CEO at Oros Labs, which owns Solarcore. “The Bifrost Winter Tall BOA S7S HT is our first product collaboration with Helly Hansen Workwear, so earning a Red Dot Design award makes for an exceptional start to our budding partnership.”

Loaded with innovative technologies, the Bifrost Winter Tall BOA S7S HT features Solarcore insulation, which uses a NASA-developed Aerogel infused into a durable foam material. A first within the workwear category and one of the most thermally efficient insulations in existence, Solarcore insulation helps Bifrost achieve a -40°C temperature rating. For added warmth, Solarcore insulation is wrapped around the entire boot, including high compression areas that typically are not or cannot be insulated, such as the toe cap and heel. This provides optimal protection for professionals working at a variety of activity levels, while also maintaining comfort and breathability.

“Our Bifrost workwear collection is trusted by professionals to deliver warmth in even the harshest conditions,” said Gary Porter, Director of Footwear for Helly Hansen Workwear. “Our partners at Solarcore have mastered the art of Aerogel insulation, which is a key ingredient within the award-winning Bifrost Winter Tall BOA S7S HT. Solarcore’s ability to efficiently insulate footwear without adding bulk or inhibiting performance is revolutionizing our industry.”

The Red Dot award is one of the biggest design competitions worldwide. Evaluated by an international jury of experts, the award recognizes the industry’s most innovative, functional and purpose-driven designs.

With a modern design that can transition from work to leisure, the new Bifrost Winter Tall BOA S7S HT will be available in the European market this Fall/Winter season, both in-store and online. For more information, please visit: www.solarcore.tech
